Last weekend I went walking to the three bird hides in Townsvilles Town Common Wetlands Reserve. We had a lot of rain the preceeding weekend so there was plenty of greenery and water about and also some nice birds that were not too scared of me peering at them through the little peep holes.

Enjoy.

These are of what I would call a water monitor. Their actual name I am not sure of but I think it is a beautiful reptile. About 1 meter long, maybe more tip to tail.

A variety of birds from the Town Common wetlands between North Ward and Pallerenda.

Magpie Goose

Olive backed or yellow bellied sunbird.

Female magpie goose.

Intermediate Egret. About 70cm tall and beautiful.

Here are a few photos from Northern New South Wales and Cleveland Point Lighthouse from a recent trip there.
